The communities of Bernardsville and Chester, New Jersey, are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Brooke Hanlon, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and psychotherapist who passed away on June 5, 2026, at the age of 35. Her death has left family members, friends, colleagues, and former patients grieving the loss of a deeply compassionate mental health professional whose life was devoted to helping others heal.

Brooke was widely known for her warmth, empathy, and steady presence, qualities that made her a trusted therapist to many children, adolescents, adults, and families. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wake Forest University in 2013 and later completed a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at Northeastern University in 2015. Her education laid a strong foundation for a career built on clinical skill, advocacy, and compassion.

Over more than a decade in the mental health field, she worked across educational, community, residential, and healthcare settings. Her early roles included counseling work with youth and families, where she supported individuals facing complex emotional and developmental challenges. Colleagues recall her dedication to providing stability and care, particularly for children who had experienced trauma.

She later continued her work in pediatric and behavioral health settings before returning to New Jersey in 2023 to join LifeStance Health in Bernardsville as a full-time psychotherapist. There, she continued her focus on trauma recovery, emotional wellness, and long-term personal growth for her clients.

Outside of her professional life, Brooke enjoyed traveling, reading, live music, and time at the beach. Loved ones remember her as intelligent, kind, generous, and deeply devoted to helping others in every area of her life.
